RTÉ to broadcast Women's Hockey World Cup games

Ireland's games against Chile and Germany in the pool stages of the Women's Hockey World Cup will be broadcast live on the RTÉ News Channel.

Sean Dancer's side are in Amsterdam for the initial stage of the tournament, and will face world number one side Netherlands in their opening game on Saturday.

They will then face Chile on Tuesday (3pm), before completing their Pool A campaign against Germany on Wednesday (5.30pm).

The RTÉ News Channel is available on Saorview - Channel 21; Virgin Media - Channel 200; Sky - Channel 521; Eir - Channel 517

The pool winners advance to the quarter-finals with the second and third place facing an extra game to reach that stage in the crossover play-offs. Fourth in the group will go into the ninth to 16th place play-offs.

The semi-finals and final will be played in Terrassa, Spain.

Looking ahead to the tournament, coach Dancer said: "The World Cup is always a tough tournament but what a great challenge to be playing the best team in the World, first game up, in front of their home crowd.

"We have set our sights firmly on a positive result versus Chile, and will approach the play-off games day by day, when we get to that point."

Ireland famously reached the final of the last World Cup, staged in England, in 2018.
