RTÉ GAA Podcast: McStay praises Derry and Dublin, Shane McGrath on cohesive Clare

Mikey Stafford and Rory O'Neill are joined by Kevin McStay, Shane McGrath and Conor Neville of RTÉ Sport to look back on the weekend’s action.

Kevin lauds a 'tactically perfect’ Derry for the emphatic win over a malfunctioning Tyrone, while Mikey manages to keep his crowing about the result to a minimum.

The lads celebrate Limerick’s penalty shootout triumph over Clare and Kevin gives some insight into the mechanics of a Gaelic football penalty.

Dublin’s defenestration of Wexford showed a return of their hunger and in Con O’Callaghan they have a forward of devastating effectiveness.

Galway impressed in their win over Kilkenny, even if it took a late free to secure it. Shane was not sure the free should have been awarded, but praised Conor Cooney for the way in which he converted it.

The handshake had to be discussed and Shane was in Salthill covering the game for Sunday Sport and he believes Brian Cody tried to snub Henry Shefflin, who had to call the Kilkenny manager several times before he turned back.

Clare put in their second huge performance in as many weeks as they beat Cork and Conor, Rory and Shane all agree they are live contenders in this years championship – pace, great forwards and a new found steel makes them a very interesting proposition.
