RTÉ GAA podcast: Enda McGinley & Eamonn Fitzmaurice on championship, plus Jackie Tyrrell on hurling league final

With the football championship upon us, Enda McGinley and Eamonn Fitzmaurice join Mikey Stafford and Rory O'Neill to look ahead to the all new format, while Jackie Tyrrell previews the hurling league final.

Are the provincials on life support? Do we need to squad lists three days in advance? Can Armagh flick a switch? Are Roscommon perfectly placed? And who will win the whole thing?

The provincial championships appear to be the most endangered element of a clogged football calendar and, as Eamonn points out, losing your first match si the easiest way to gain some respite. That is an issue for the competitions going forward as the incentive to win it for the top teams is greatly reduced.

The lads look at the new ruling on squad lists, with Enda arguing that Thursday morning is too soon to be sure of your 26 for the weekend.

Should Dublin play their home and neutral games at Croke Park? Of course not. Eamonn has a very Kerry suggestion for Dublin, which involved a trip to Navan.

As far as the weekend games go, Armagh have the opportunity to find their mojo against Antrim, but Andy McEnetee's predecessor as Saffrons manager, Enda, is full of praise for what has been achieved this year and gives the underdogs a shout.

Roscommon are well set up to slow down Mayo's counter-attack but would have been better set before Tadhg O'Rourke's injury, so Mayo are fancied to keep the show on the road.

In the biggest game of the weekend (according to Rory), Cork travel to Ennis to take on a hurting Clare. However, despite home advantage, Cork are fancied to progress here, with Eamonn tipping the Rebels to have a say in this year's championship.
