Enda McGinley: 'Tyrone will still believe they can win an All-Ireland'

Tyrone will have to shake off the shock of their Ulster SFC quarter-final loss quickly and get to work over the next five weeks - but the Red Hands will absolutely believe they can still end the season with the ultimate reward of an All-Ireland title.

So says former Tyrone midfielder Enda McGinley, who felt his county played their best football of the year at times against Monaghan, before collapsing spectacularly in the second half.

"They'll be disappointed, they'll be licking their wounds," McGinley said on RTÉ's The Sunday Game.

"That second-half performance was poor, there was a lot of mistakes made, a lot of really bad turnovers, poor shots.

"They were open, defensively, in the second half. In the first half they were looking really, really good. It was a game of two halves."

Tyrone looked to have survived Monaghan's defiant second-half surge only for the visitors' debut boy Ryan O'Toole to turn the game on its head with an audacious injury-time goal, eventually giving Monaghan a 2-17 to 1-18 victory.

"There were enough crumbs of comfort in that match," McGinley explained. "At times, it was the best football they've played this year. But they definitely slipped off in the second half.

"In terms of the impact it has on them in the long term, it's how much of an impact they want it to have. All of the top teams have already had setbacks in the National League and potentially big losses.

"There'll still be more twists and turns, but they'll still believe in that dressing room that they can win the All-Ireland. It's up to them to use the next
