Roy Nissany eyeing Williams seat as he seeks to prove himself in Formula 2

Formula 2 driver Roy Nissany says that he is eyeing a seat with Williams and is doing all he can to try and earn a drive with them.

Nissany currently competes for DAMS in the feeder series to Formula 1 and, at the age of 27, is one of the more senior drivers in the competition.

He’s also part of the Williams driver programme, and will naturally want to try and progress to F1 before his racing career is through.

He still has plenty of time to do that, of course, but he must prove himself in an ultra-competitive F2 series and he admits that, right now, the results he is getting are not good enough.

Speaking to the Express, he revealed an honest take on his performances in recent times and underlined that he still hopes to join Williams in F1 in the future.

“We can look at the facts.

“The fact is at the moment, according to F2 results, the answer is no. But, I’m so certain how much potential I still have in me that I have to express in F2 and show I’m worthy of that seat.

“When I’m worthy of an F1 seat, Williams is in the last three years, my family. Everything I’m thinking in terms of an F1 seat at the moment is Williams.

“My management’s job, in case a seat in Williams is not available and another seat is available and I’m worthy of that seat… you know the answer. I am again focussed on deserving any seat and focussing on the F2 campaign which is dictating the rest.”

Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi are currently the men in possession of a Williams race seat and they will obviously be putting up a huge fight to stay there, given just how scarce an F1 drive actually is.
