Roy Keane is right about Alejandro Garnacho - but he offers Manchester United so much more

Alejandro Garnacho doubled his goal tally for the season by scoring a brace in Manchester United's 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Handed just his second start of the season, the Argentine scored either side of half-time to help United book their place in the next round of the competition with minimal fuss.

As well as scoring twice, the 20-year-old created two of United's five other goals, providing the assists for Marcus Rashford's two efforts. Garnacho now has seven direct goal contributions (goals and assists) in just six games this season.

Considering the visit of Barnsley marked just his second start of the campaign, it is fair to say the winger has made a storming start to the season. He is now knocking on the door in pursuit of a start for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

Garnacho missed almost all of United's pre-season campaign because of the Copa America, returning to the club's Carrington training base on August 2 - two days before the rest of his teammates concluded their pre-season schedule in the United States against Liverpool.

It meant he was left out of the starting line-up for the Community Shield clash with Manchester City at Wembley the following weekend. However, he impacted proceedings from the bench, scoring what he thought was the winner.
