Roy Keane rinsing Gary Neville over Man Utd career in 2018 remembered

Roy Keane and Gary Neville were part of the same Manchester United dressing room for 12 years and their working relationship has continued on screen after hanging up their boots.

Although very different characters in certain ways, they also share some of the same characteristics.

Namely, they’re both extremely driven, professional and, perhaps most importantly of all in their roles as pundits, love football and know the game inside out.

In the eyes of many football fans, Neville has been the best pundit on TV over the past decade.

Keane, meanwhile, is one of football’s most entertaining pundits because he’s never afraid to speak his mind and isn’t particularly bothered about who he upsets in the process.

The fiery Irishman will aim fire at players, managers, entire teams and even his fellow pundits if he feels they deserve it.

Keane has taken digs at Neville on several occasions in recent years, although it always tends to be with a glint in his eye when it comes to his ex-teammate.

During the 2018 World Cup for example, Keane had his fellow pundits and viewers in stitches after rinsing Neville over his United career.

Following Belgium’s 2-0 win over England in the third-place play-off, Neville explained that a defender would only want to be at fault for a maximum of four goals in a season.

“If you look back over a season, if you played 45/50 games, you probably want to be at fault for around four goals – you’re going to make mistakes,” the former England international said.

Neville then stopped and started laughing at Keane, who had clearly given him a funny look off-camera.

“How about 24 goals?” Keane replied, much to everyone’s amusement.

Keane added: “He had good wingers in front of him, let me tell you.”
