Ross Wilson in emotional Rangers farewell as Nottingham Forest reveal new transfer chief is already down to work

Ross Wilson will get straight down to work at Nottingham Forest after securing his Rangers exit as he paid an emotional farewell to Ibrox.

The 39-year-old has brought his near-four year spell at Ibrox to an end. He arrived in 2019 and helped oversee the Steven Gerrard revolution which resulted in a first Premiership title in a decade and denied Celtic an historic Ten-In-A-Row triumph. However, Wilson has since come under heavy fire for his recruitment since the league crown was captured. He's been accused of not capitalising on the advantage Gers had, and Ange Postecoglou's arrival across the city has seen them slip into second place for two seasons in a row now.

Recruitment has been openly questioned, with fans unfurling banners at more than one game demanding change at the top. They got their wish as Wilson rubber stamped a switch to the City ground, where he'll have increased responsibilities to not only help ensure Forest retain their Premier League status, but are equipped to stay there long term. But he looks back on his time at Ibrox fondly.

Speaking to the Rangers website, he said: “I would like to thank the players, led superbly by captain James Tavernier, and the manager Michael Beale, as well as all those who have come before them in the three and a half years I have spent at Rangers. Iwould like to thank Douglas Park, Stewart Robertson and the Board for their support. I wish John Bennett - a true Rangers man - a successful chairmanship. This is a great club, and there are so many reasons for Rangers to face the decades ahead with optimism and pride.
