Roscommon reappoint Seamus Qualter as hurling boss
Roscommon have appointed Seamus Qualter for a second spell as their senior hurling manager.
The Galway native succeeds Francis O'Halloran, who stepped down last week after questioning the players' commitment in the wake of a surprise Allianz Hurling League Division 3A loss to Louth.
Qualter previously managed Westmeath to two Christy Ring Cup wins before taking over the Roscommon senior and Under-21 hurling teams from 2010 to 2013,
He led the U21s to an All Ireland 'B' title in 2012 and the seniors to the 2013 Nicky Rackard Cup Final.
In recent years he has managed Roscommon clubs Athleague and Tremane.
Seamus will be assisted by former Sligo Lory Meagher and Nicky Rackard-winning manager Dathí Hand (coach) and Peter Galvin (selector), who was part of Hand's successful management team at the Yeats County.
Roscommon GAA hurling chairperson Christy McDermott said: "I would like to welcome Seamus and his management team on board and I hope they will have great success and get the support of the players and Roscommon clubs."
