Ronda Rousey: Ex-WWE star hints at managerial role for champion

Former WWE Diva’s Champion Paige has teased fans by suggesting she should have a new manager role for one of SmackDown’s biggest stars.

We haven’t seen Paige on WWE TV since March 2020, where she appeared via ‘Skype’ to confront then SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. However, the 29-year-old, who was forced to retire from a neck injury in 2018, took to social media this past weekend to hint at a new role in WWE.

Replying to a thread on WWE’s Twitter page asking who the next challenger for Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Championship should be, Paige quote tweeted the post with the question ‘Manager maybe?’. Sparking a massively positive response from fans who’d love to see Paige return as the mouthpiece for The Baddest Women on the Planet.

Paige is no stranger to the manager role, having taken Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville under her whing as the leader of short-lived trio Absolution and then following her retirement she briefly managed the Kabuki Warriors before Asuka and Kari Sane turned on her.

Earlier this year there had been rumours of Paige making an in-ring return for WWE. Taking inspiration from the likes of Edge and Daniel Bryan, who have all returned after initially retiring from what was seen as career-ending injuries.

The Anti-Diva was rumoured to be a possible surprise entrant in 2022 Royal Rumble, while she also on social media about a future match with Natalya if she would ever make a wrestling comeback. Neither of which, came to fruition.

Rousey meanwhile, defeated Raquel Rodriguez on SmackDown this past week, after Big Mami Cool answered the champion’s open challenge earlier in the show. It is not clear at the point, who Ronda’s next challenger for her
