Ronaldo, Kante, De Gea: Incredible XI of Premier League stars with contracts expiring

In just a few months’ time, the transfer window will reopen as European football returns to domestic action.

The upcoming World Cup may well make transfer plans difficult for many clubs ahead of January, with star players jetting off to either Qatar to compete or on a winter holiday.

Will we see some big-money deals in January on the back of strong individual performances at this winter’s World Cup?

While that remains to be seen, January provides an opportunity for players whose contracts are expiring in the summer of 2023 to speak to other clubs. In fact, they can agree a pre-contract with foreign clubs ahead of a free transfer next summer.

With less than three months remaining until they can do just that, we wanted to take a look at some of the Premier League players whose current deals are up next summer. While some may well sign new contracts to remain at their current club, some will be looking to sign an agreement with another club in January.

And it's actually extraordinary some of the talented players that are set to be out of contract next summer.

So extraordinary, the likes of Roberto Firmino, Jorginho and Ilkay Gundogan don't make the incredible XI of Premier League players who are in the final year of their contracts.

De Gea is still Manchester United's No.1 goalkeeper this season - although it took a while for him to convince manager Erik ten Hag. It's still unclear whether he will remain at the club beyond the summer.
