ROH Women's Championship match confirmed for Dynamite
It was revealed on Dynamite that the ROH Women’s Championship would be defended on AEW television. This match will see the AEW debut of one of the most talked-about wrestlers in the women’s division.
The ROH Women’s Championship currently has two champions. The Interim Champion Mercedes Martinez and the ROH Women’s Champion Deonna Purrazzo.
Martinez captured the Interim ROH Women’s Championship after Purrazzo wasn’t available to defend the championship at ROH’s Supercard of Honor at the start of April. Mercedes would go on to win the championship after defeating Willow.
Purrazzo couldn’t make it to the ROH event due to her fighting at an IMPACT Wrestling event the same day. Purrazzo has racked up an impressive resume since her release from WWE in 2020.
In the space of two years, Purrazzo has been a two-time Knockouts Champion in IMPACT Wrestling, and she is currently the ROH Women’s Champion as well as the AAA Reina de Reinas Champion.
Purrazzo looks to continue her dominance in the women’s division wherever she goes and after the bout with Martinez, she could have her eye on a championship or two potentially in AEW.
Before the Virtuosa can even think of the future, she has to go toe-to-toe with one of the toughest women to step foot inside the squared circle Mercedes Martinez. Martinez has been dominant wherever she goes, and her tenacity and power could be a problem for Purrazzo in this bout.
Former AEW Women’s Champion expressed her excitement for the arrival of the Virtuosa on Twitter.
