Rodri Man City transfer latest explained - Real Madrid plan, contract offer, 115 charges outcome

Real Madrid are interested in Manchester City midfielder Rodri, according to The Athletic.

After establishing himself as one of most coveted defensive midfielders in the world, winning a number of accolades at the Etihad Stadium and the European Championships with Spain in the summer, Pep Guardiola's side are said to be working on a new deal for the 28-year-old.

However, City are likely to face interest in the former Atletico Madrid man following his rise to prominence. The Athletic have reported that while the Blues want to tie down the midfielder, they face interest from Real Madrid, who are said to be willing to wait for the verdict of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League.

Rodri has three years remaining on his contract, the Spaniard has proved his importance during the dominance under Pep Guardiola and City are reportedly looking to move to alleviate the threat of contract uncertainty as his deal ticks down.

A source has reportedly told The Athletic that there is interest from Los Blancos but they may not have the means to complete a deal, due to the financial strengths that City possess and are said to be unwilling to match the contract offer from the Premier League holders.

Furthermore, the report adds that Carlo Ancelotti's side are monitoring what unfolds in the court room after the historic case brought against City, began this week. Although City maintain their innocence, should they be found guilty and receive a hefty sanction, the Spanish giants could swoop in and take advantage of a possible opportunity.
