Rodri asked to leave Man City as midfielder responds to ‘perfect’ Real Madrid transfer

Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal admits he has been trying to convince Rodri to join him at the European champions.

The Manchester City defensive midfielder has shone for Pep Guardiola's side over the past few seasons and is regarded as one of Europe's best players. Rodri is set to play alongside Carvajal for Spain against England in the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday night.

And Madrid right-back Carvajal has claimed to have urged his compatriot to make a move to the Bernabeu. The 32-year-old cheekily referenced the Manchester weather as a reason for why he should swap Pep Guardiola's side for Carlo Ancelotti's team.

“I tell Rodri every day to sign for Real Madrid," he told Tiempo de Juego. “I tell him every day to leave Manchester, that there is no sun there and to come to Madrid that we need him.

“He tells me he has a contract... but he would be perfect for us.”

Rodri has previously expressed his admiration for Guardiola and his love for Manchester City. "People like Pep are special because of their hunger," he said.
