Robin Propper Rangers ban claim cleared up amid Sky Sports suspension caption confusion

Suspended Rangers ace Nico Raskin will sit out Thursday night's trip to Dundee - but Record Sport can confirm Ibrox team-mate Robin Propper is NOT facing an imminent Premiership ban.

Confusion arose on Sunday when the Dutchman was booked during his side’s 3-3 thriller at Easter Road. A graphic shown by Broadcasters Sky Sports suggested he would join Raskin on the sidelines at Dens Park having picked up his sixth league booking of the season. But Record Sport has been told by SFA disciplinary chiefs that Propper is free to face Tony Docherty’s Dark Blues.

SFA rules state that any player collecting six yellow cards inside the opening 19 games of the top-flight season will be due to serve a one-match suspension, with the punishment kicking in seven days after the caution-able offence. However, that threshold is doubled to 12 bookings after the Premiership’s half way point on matchday 19.

Gers’ dizzying draw with Hibs in Leith was their 20th clash of the campaign, meaning Propper is clear to play Dundee and won’t be in danger of a ban anytime soon. That will be welcome news for the Light Blue legions with their team down to the bare bones at the back.

Skipper James Tavernier, keeper Jack Butland and stoppers John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Nana Kasanwirjo are all currently out injured. Meanwhile boss Philippe Clement is due to give an update on Dujon Sterling at his pre-match press conference later today after the Ibrox utility ace limped off in Leith.

Definitely missing out is Raskin, who picked up a one-match ban when he was booked for the sixth time in last week’s Old Firm triumph.
