Roberto Firmino: Liverpool fans react to star speaking English

Roberto Firmino has started the 2022/23 season brilliantly for Liverpool.

The Brazilian scored twice and produced an outrageous assist as Jurgen Klopp’s side thrashed Rangers 7-1 on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Despite the Reds struggling at the start of the campaign, Firmino has scored eight goals in 12 appearances in all competitions while registering a further four assists.

Liverpool may have only won two of their Premier League games this season but Firmino has been one of the very few positives for last season's double-winners.

And if his performance against Rangers wasn't enough for Liverpool fans to love him even more, he then gave a post-match interview in English.

Despite signing for the club in 2015, Firmino has rarely been heard speaking English.

However, confidence is clearly high at the moment because he spoke a few words of English after the Rangers win when speaking about Mohamed Salah's incredible six-minute hat-trick.

Salah came off the bench to score three goals in six minutes and 12 seconds during the empathetic victory and Firmino said in fluent English: "Amazing. When he scored, I tell David on the bench he will score a hat-trick one hundred percent. I can feel on the bench what he did and I'm so happy for him."

So, Firmino can not only speak English now but he can also predict the future.

While it's hardly groundbreaking that a player who has been in the country for seven years surrounded by English-speaking people can now speak a few words of the language, it was the first time for many Liverpool fans hearing Firmino speak English. And they loved it.
