Robbie Savage tells Sir Jim Ratcliffe his one Manchester United takeover demand
Robbie Savage insists Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to make Manchester United a winning team on the pitch if he wants to be seen as a success.
Ratcliffe looks set to gain a minority stake in United, following Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani's withdrawal from the bidding process. The INEOS founder adapted his proposal for the Glazers that will now see him take a minority share, with the view to become majority shareholder in the future.
Despite having a minority share, Ratcliffe is reportedly demanding control of football operations at the club. The 71-year-old will hope to bring his own people in to help with the day-to-day running of the club, with supporters growing increasingly frustrated at the Glazers.

Ratcliffe will almost certainly be seen as an improvement on the American family, but Savage believes the petrochemicals billionaire will be judged one on thing: success.
"Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposed £1.4 billion investment in Manchester United can only be a success if it impacts where it's needed most – on the pitch," Savage wrote in his column for the Mirror.
"From the outside, it's not easy to see how Sir Jim can change the course of history at Old Trafford if he holds only a 25 percent stake in the club. If the Ineos multi-billionaire is given control of football operations in return for his money, as seems to be the conventional wisdom, he would assume responsibility for results and recruitment.
