Beckham, McIlroy, Hamilton - the celebrities who would love to be involved in Manchester United takeover
It has been nearly a year since Manchester United owners the Glazers first announced their plans to 'seek strategic alternatives' for the club.
The Americans could not find an agreement with Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who pulled out of the race in dramatic circumstances following his £5.5billion offer.
That has meant that Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks set to take a 25 per cent stake in the club. However, such a scenario would leave the Glazers in situ at Old Trafford.

It is believed that Sir Jim will have the option to acquire more shares in the coming years ahead of a potential phased takeover of the club. That could leave the opportunity for other investors to potentially get involved with the INEOS-backed bid at Old Trafford.
One of those could even be Reds legend David Beckham, who is currently joint-owner of MLS franchise Inter Miami, has recently hinted about being open to a potential return to United.
Asked about the possibility of taking up a role at the club with whom he started his career, Beckham said: "At the moment there's been no discussion. Obviously I have a long-standing relationship with Qatar because of my involvement with PSG. Obviously there's some connection there and people talking about my involvement in Man United because you put myself in Manchester plus PSG and there's a connection so people will obviously talk about that but no discussions at the moment.
