Robbie Savage's proud message to son Charlie as former Manchester United man earns Wales call

Robbie Savage has provided his reaction online after his son and former Manchester United midfielder Charlie received his first international call-up for Wales.

The 20-year-old joined League One side Reading in the summer and has enjoyed a strong start to life in Berkshire, providing three assists so far this season. Charlie joined United as a nine-year-old and made his debut for the Reds in 2021 against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League.

Since his move south, Savage has become something of a regular under Ruben Selles, making 10 appearances already this term. Reading are currently 22nd in League One having won just three times so far. Savage junior scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win over Bolton in September.

The Red Dragons are currently fourth in Group D after five games and face World Cup semi-finalists Croatia in Cardiff on October 15, with their hopes of qualifying for the tournament in Germany next summer hanging in the balance.

And Savage junior's dad Robbie, who spent time at Old Trafford as youngster, provided his reaction online to his son's international call tweeting: ''Huge moment.'' Dad Robbie of course also represented Wales throughout his career, making 39 caps and scoring two goals.
