Robbie Keane set to take over at Hungarian side Ferencvaros

Robbie Keane looks set to return to management with Hungarian side Ferencvaros, according to reports in the country.

The Republic of Ireland all-time leading goalscorer was in charge at Maccabi Tel Aviv for 18 months until he left the role last June.

Keane's team reached the last 16 of the Europa Conference League, won a league title and also claimed the Toto Cup in his time in the dugout.

The Dubliner has also spent time as assistant or coaching with Ireland, Middlesbrough and Leeds United.

Ferencvaros president Gábor Kubatov told M4Sport that the club will make an announcement soon when asked if Keane was set to become the new boss, without confirming it would be the Irishman.

The Hungarian side have played Shamrock Rovers twice in European qualifying rounds in recent years and remain in this year's Europa League where they will face AZ Alkmaar next.

They are currently in second place in the league table but are without a manager after Pascal Jansen departed for New York City in the MLS.
