Road closed for over nine hours after serious crash near Newport

A busy road between Newport and Magor has been closed for over nine hours after an early morning crash. The B4245, Magor Road, has been closed since just after midnight on Wednesday, August 7, after reports of a crash.

The incident involved one vehicle and the road remains shut. Gwent Police has confirmed it is in attendance and that the Welsh Ambulance Service and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service also attended.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision on the B4245, Langstone, Newport, at around 12.03am on Wednesday 7 August. Officers attended along with the Welsh Ambulance Service and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. The collision involved one car.

"The road is currently closed between Langstone Crematorium to the Magor Road junction for Pencoed Lane in Newport. Our enquiries are ongoing."
