Tonbridge Angels sign former Charlton and Fulham youngster Timmy Abraham

Tonbridge have boosted their attacking options by signing former Football League striker Timmy Abraham.

The 23-year-old, the brother of Roma and ex-Chelsea striker Tammy, was a free agent after leaving Boreham Wood.

His arrival provides valuable support for Trevan Robinson, with Noel Leighton expected to be out for two months after suffering an ankle injury during pre-season.

He could make his debut at Aveley this afternoon, while Tonbridge visit Chelmsford on Monday night.

“Timmy is an important signing for us,” manager Jay Saunders told the Angels website.

“We really need that competition in the forward areas and with the games we have coming up it would be hard to get through every one and I wanted another player that knows the levels.

“Obviously Timmy does that, he brings pace and power and, hopefully, a few goals to the squad.”

Abraham joined Fulham from Charlton, aged 17, having loan spells with Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, Newport and Scottish club Raith Rovers.

Abraham joined Walsall, then in League 1, after leaving Fulham, going out on loan to Oldham.

His move to Boreham Wood followed and last December he joined Angels’ neighbours Maidstone on a two-month loan deal.
