CCTV appeal after brazen thief snatches wallet in broad daylight

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a wallet was snatched in a broad daylight robbery.

The incident was reported to have happened on Hampson Mill Lane in Bury just before 4pm last Sunday (August 11). A black leather wallet was stolen from the victim, Greater Manchester Police said.

The suspect - a man - is believed to have fled the scene via a footpath at the end of Harrow Close. The victim was unhurt but has been 'left distressed and shaken' after the incident, police added.

Officers have today (August 18) released a CCTV picture of a man they want to speak to. Anyone who recognises him, or who has any information, should get in touch with the force.

In an appeal, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers investigating a robbery in Bury have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to. Police were called just before 4pm on Sunday 11 August to Hampson Mill Lane, Bury to reports of a robbery.

"Officers attended and it is believed that a black leather wallet was stolen from the victim. We also believe that a man fled the scene on foot via a footpath at the end of Harrow Close, Bury.

"The victim was not injured but has understandably been left distressed and shaken." GMP can be contacted via 0161 856 68204 quoting 2053 of 11/08/2024.
