Road closed by police after man hit by car
Police have closed off a road in Stockport after an elderly man was hit by a car.
Banks Lane in Offerton is currently closed off both ways. It is shut near the junction with the Hempshaw Lane, outside the Finger Post Hotel pub.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to the scene at around 9am. Paramedics were also called.

The man was taken to hospital from the scene. The extent of his injuries has not yet been confirmed.
The driver of the car remained on the scene, the GMP spokesperson added. Traffic is currently being diverted away from the area, with some bus services also on diversion routes.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, Banks Lane is closed in both directions between the Finger Post Hotel and Harold Street.
