LIVE: Major road closed in Manchester city centre after 'police incident' - latest updates

A major road is closed in Manchester city centre due to a police incident.

Police cars and two ambulances are currently on the scene. The nature of the incident is not yet clear.

Princess Road (A5103) is closed between the Mancunian Way and Greenheys Lane in both directions.

Members of the public are advised to use alternative routes and should avoid the area, Greater Manchester Police said.

In a tweet, they said: "Due to an ongoing incident, Princess Road (A5103) is closed between Mancunian Way and Greenheys Lane in both directions. Please use alternative routes and avoid the area. Thank You.2

Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been approached for further information.
