'Riyad Mahrez the main man' - Man City fans say the same thing after huge win vs Brighton

Manchester City fans were more than a little relieved to see their side finally break the deadlock against Brighton on Wednesday.

Having started the day in second following Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday, City knew they needed to respond with a victory of their own. There was a degree of nervousness around the Etihad as the hosts were left frustrated in their early efforts.

Despite City dominating the first half and creating numerous chances, Brighton managed to hang on to keep the scores level at half-time. But City didn’t have to wait too long after the break to finally get their reward.

Kevin De Bruyne broke forward from his own half before laying the ball off to Riyad Mahrez, with the Algeria international scoring via a deflection. In doing so, he managed to ease plenty of home fans' nerves.

And things would get even better for the Blues just over 10 minutes later, with Phil Foden doubling the hosts’ lead, while Bernardo Silva made sure of the victory late on. And City’s breakthrough was met with widespread relief from supporters on social media.
