Riyad Mahrez sends message to Arsenal as Man City step up treble pursuit

Riyad Mahrez has warned Arsenal that Manchester City have no intention of taking their foot off the gas as they seek a sensational finish to the season.

The Blues beat Sheffield United on Saturday to reach the FA Cup final with Mahrez netting a hat-trick in the win. City are also in the last four of the Champions League, where they face Real Madrid, and are hunting down the Gunners at the top of the Premier League.

The two sides meet at the Etihad on Wednesday night in what is being billed as a title showdown. Arsenal were forced to come from two goals down to salvage a point against basement boys Southampton in their last outing and Mikel Arteta's men have drawn their last three league matches.

It means City have cut the gap at the top of the league to five points with two games in hand. A win over the Gunners on Wednesday would deal a huge psychological blow to Arsenal and Mahrez says City have no intention of letting their momentum drop.

"Going to the final of the FA Cup is amazing so now we have to concentrate on the league and the next game against Arsenal," he said, speaking to ITV Sport. "I think we have a very good squad and team, everybody pushes each other and gives a contribution and that is the way to be to have success and we have to keep going like this."

Wednesday's game is an 8pm kick off and is the first of 11 matches for City between now and the FA Cup final in early June. Guardiola's side could also have a Champions League final, against either AC Milan or Inter Milan, to add to the mix should they see off Madrid in the last four next month.
