Rio Ferdinand has sent an explosive warning to any player who does not care about performing when wearing the Manchester United shirt. As this alarming season draws to a close, vast changes are set to come in the dugout and behind the scenes, as attentions turn to next season.

United have already confirmed that Erik ten Hag will be their next manager and key figures in the boardroom such as Ed Woodward and Matt Judge have handed in their resignations. It means they will play no part in the upcoming recruitment drive - with outgoings expected to be equally, if not more, prevalent than incomings.

Asked what he would have done in the changing room after the Brighton defeat, Ferdinand told his FIVE podcast: "If you asked Albert Morgan, the kit man, he would have said there would be a lot of cleaning up to do. I would have messed up that changing room for starters. I would have gone nuts.

"You have to question each other, asking questions of each other. Does anyone f****** care? I want to know that those questions are being asked. Because if I smelt that somebody didn't care, I would be calling them out."
