Rio Ferdinand outlines two options for Jadon Sancho after Manchester United star’s statement
Rio Ferdinand says Jadon Sancho has backed himself into a corner leaving only two future options following his remarkable social media post hitting back at Erik ten Hag’s decision to omit him from the Manchester United squad against Arsenal.
The 23-year-old had been left out by his manager due to his training levels being substandard, something Sancho vehemently disagrees with. The winger said he has been a “scapegoat for a long time”.
Sancho came off the bench in United’s first three matches against Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, albeit is yet to start this season. Ten Hag frequently included Sancho in his team towards the end of last year despite tepid displays.
The England international has spent a number of weeks away from the main squad over the festive period to rebuild his form and confidence. While Sancho eventually returned to the squad, Ferdinand is not as optimistic this time around.

He believes Sancho has to either exit for a Saudi club, with the Pro League window open until Thursday, or risk being outcast from Ten Hag’s plans. Speaking on his YouTube show FIVE, Ferdinand said: “There’s no way Jadon is putting out a statement like that if he hasn’t in his own eyes performed well.
“That’s the difference as well. On his chart, Jadon [might think] – ‘I’ve trained alright’, but the manager might have a different standard.
“There’s two ways this ends. There’s only one window open now and that’s Saudi. Or you’re on the bench or not getting in the squad for the rest of the season.”
