Kyle Walker meeting and Phil Foden target show Man City have solved Pep Guardiola's biggest worry

The partying had not long died down after Manchester City won the treble before Phil Foden and Jack Grealish had a heart-to-heart.

"I remember actually speaking to Jack about this," Foden revealed this week. "After the Champions League was done, we both looked at each other and thought, 'how are we going to get that high again?' I was almost a bit sad thinking about it."

That's a natural reaction after achieving the highest high a footballer can reach for their club. Is it all downhill from here? How do you possibly go about motivating yourself to get that feeling again?

"We had a little discussion and the only way is to just do it again or do the quadruple," Foden said. "That's the aim now. We have to try and do it again.

"I know it's nearly impossible because it's such a hard thing to do but the lads are craving that now and want to do it again."

That might feel a long way away given City are only five games into the new season, with the Super Cup win on penalties reminding them what it's like to win trophies a few months on from Istanbul and Wembley. However, Pep Guardiola spent months last season trying to motivate his players to attack a third-straight Premier League title challenge with the same effort as the first two.
