Rio Ferdinand gives Rasmus Hojlund verdict and sends message to his Manchester United teammates

Rio Ferdinand has demanded Manchester United wingers cross the ball for Rasmus Hojlund to help break his Premier League duck.

Since his arrival from Atalanta in the summer, Hojlund has largely been United's biggest threat in the centre forward role. He has scored three goals for the Reds, all of which have come in the Champions League.

However, he is still searching for his first in the top flight and he drew another blank on Saturday before being substituted on 80 minutes. The Dane was clearly frustrated by another game without a goal as he exited the pitch and was replaced by Anthony Martial.

Prior to kick-off, Ferdinand explained what the United squad must do to help him score more goals. He told TNT Sports: "Hojlund is a great example, he’s getting into the box in great areas and is a striker that really wants those crosses fired into him but he has two wingers that don’t cross the ball.

"The afterthought is crossing the ball for the striker, not the first thing in their mind and that has to change. That falls on the manager again, he has to implement a playing style that works for everyone because if I asked one of those players, ‘What’s Manchester United’s playing style right now?’ I guarantee none of them would give me a satisfying answer."

Hojlund will return to Denmark in midweek when the Reds face FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. He'll be hoping to add to the three goals he's already scored for United in the Champions League.
