Ricky Evans vs Usain Bolt: Darts player could throw nine-darter faster than 100m sprint

He’s not called Ricky ‘Rapid’ Evans for nothing, and a video has shown that he could throw a nine-darter in just 9.40 seconds… which is faster than Usain Bolt‘s 100m world record.

There was a time when hitting a nine-darter was a rare event in darts. So much so, that when Paul Lim became the first ever to hit one at the World Championship back in 1990, he took home a cool £52,000 in prize money, which was more than double the pay-out Phil Taylor got for winning the entire series.

But, as Gerwyn Price rattled in not one, but TWO, on his way to winning night three of the Premier League in Belfast last night, he only solidified the idea that players are performing at such a high level now that regular nine-darters are inevitable.

Clearly, the PDC recognise this and have scrapped their prize money incentives because of their regularity.

Although, does that make them any less enjoyable? No, most certainly not.

Especially when they could be hit at such an astonishing speed as when Ricky ‘Rapid’ Evans steps up to the oche.

Averaging just over a second per dart thrown, Evans could manage to complete a nine-darter in no less than 9.40 seconds.

The crowd would absolutely love to see it! As would presenter Dave Clark, who made the exceptional comparison: “Ricky Evans 9.40 seconds, 9.58 for Usain Bolt.

“He’s brilliant.”

Evans currently sits 39th in the PDC order of merit and despite his talent has failed to secure any major PDC titles to this point, with his most successful attempt coming at the German Darts Championship back in 2019, which saw Rapid lose 6-5 to Daryl ‘SuperChin’ Gurney.

Similarly, it was Gurney who put Evans out of the most recent World Championship, dispatching of the man from Kettering in the second round
