Richard Odada on why he is so desperate to make up for lost time at Dundee United

Richard Odada has had to be patient but is now determined to make up for lost time with Dundee United.

The Kenyan international arrived at the end of July from Philadelphia Union. The problem for the midfielder is that he arrived when Jim Goodwin’s new-look squad was already up and running domestically. Odada had to find his feet and also play catch-up in terms of fitness and match sharpness but injuries to the likes of Craig Sibbald and Ross Docherty have now opened the door for him.

The United new boy stated: “I am here to play as much as possible, I want to get as many minutes and help the team to the best results possible. I have had to be patient but every day I am working hard in training because we have a lot of good players. The competition is very healthy so every day counts, you have to be at your best in every session.

“I am giving my best and everything will fall into place. It is a little bit difficult because I haven’t played too long but I got some minutes when I was away with the national team. But I was pleased to get minutes and hopefully I can get more now.”

United are still hurting from their recent Premier Sports Cup exit at the hands of Motherwell. That will be an extra motivation for the Terrors as they look to avenge that result in the league at Tannadice this evening.

“Motherwell are good opponents and they beat us in the cup game not that long ago,” Odada stated. “So hopefully we can get our revenge for that.

“They are a good team so we have to match them physically and also with the ball. Football is a game of learning, you learn from previous games and you learn from your mistakes.

“So this is an opportunity and we are working hard to get the points we want. Motherwell will be difficult but
