Richard Hammond confesses 'there were bad bits' while filming with Jeremy Clarkson and James May

Grand Tour's Richard Hammond shared a candid moment with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on This Morning's episode on Monday. The motoring enthusiast joined the ITV programme to discuss his latest Workshop TV show.

Yet, the chat swiftly veered towards his experiences filming with his long-time colleagues and friends, former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May.

Ben probed whether Richard would have any words of wisdom for his younger self, looking back at the 23 years spent working with the duo.

Reflecting on his start at the age of 31, Richard, who referred to himself as "a baby" back then, humorously suggested that had he advised his younger self, he might not have ended up on their sofa today.

His quip sent Ben and Cat into fits of laughter before he pondered seriously on the advice he'd give, reports the Mirror.

Richard's response was heartfelt as he replied: "I would say, stick with it, it's going to be incredible."

He recounted the emotional moment he received the call to join the team, which moved him to tears, leading to a celebratory moment with his wife.

The star said: "We (Richard and his wife) opened a bottle of champagne and I said to Min, 'This is going to change everything'.

"It did! Yeah, there have been bad bits but for anybody over 23 years, you've got good bits and bad bits. We had it at a magnified level."

As for concluding the filming chapter with Jeremy and James, Richard admitted that it feels odd and something he's still trying to comprehend.

He admitted: "I reckon, six months from now I'll suddenly sit in my bed in the morning and go, 'It's all over!', It will really hit me."
