Rhys McClenaghan advances to European Championships final
Rhys McClenaghan has advanced to the pommel horse final at the European Championships in Rimini, Italy, where he will defend his title on Friday.
The double world champion, in what is expected to be his final competitive outing before the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, scored 15.133 to qualify in second place behind Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev.
It was a relatively clean routine for the Ards gymnast who on Friday will bid for a third continental title.
Seeking to retain the title he won in Antalya twelve months ago, the 24-year-old bounced back from failing to make the final in the World Cup in Baku in March by taking third place in Doha last week.
