Resident Evil: PSN listing hints at PS5 versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7

The PS5 versions of retro Resident Evil games appear to be coming soon after they appeared on the PlayStation Network, as per Video Games Chronicle.

There is a PS5 version of Resident Evil 7 that appears to be coming, along with the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

Capcom announced in March that the trio of games would be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S this year but there was no release date announced at the time.

PlayStation Size, a patch tracker on Twitter, has now revealed that the three titles have appeared on PSN as PS5 games, leading to speculation that they could be coming soon.

VGC speculates that they could be released to coincide with Capcom’s digital event next week, or potentially the Summer Game Fest Showcase that is slated for this week.

Capcom said at the time of their announcement that all three games would feature visual enhancements but there was no elaboration beyond that.

PlayStation Size has managed to find the download sizes for 2 and 3, with Resident Evil 2 coming in at 21.834 GB without an update, and Resident Evil 3 weighing in at 20.480 GB without an update.

They have discovered, though, that there are two versions of Resident Evil 7, which is also known as Biohazard, with a standard edition and a gold edition available. The download size for both has yet to be found.

Capcom has appeared to focus on Resident Evil remakes in recent years and there was recently an announcement of Resident Evil 4 getting a remake, although that will come with a “reimagined storyline”, so it remains to be seen what changes are made.

That game is set to release on March 24, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
