Rescue team descends on Salford Quays after 'person jumped in water'
Emergency services have descended on Salford Quays after a person was seen jumping into the water. A search unit was pictured close to the Salford Watersports Centre at 9.30pm tonight (August 1).
A crew wearing lifejackets were seen stood by a boat at the quayside, while eyewitnesses watched on from close by. The Manchester Evening News understands police and firefighters were called out to the scene this evening following reports of a person jumping into the water after being chased.
However, eyewitnesses reported seeing the person getting back out of the water and the rescue team was allowed to leave the scene, the M.E.N. understands. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called out to Salford Quays at 9.08pm.

The fire service's water unit was sent down to the scene, but left shortly before 10pm. It's understood police remain in attendance at Salford Quays following the incident.
Further details on the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed. Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further information.
