Reports of armed police and CSI on South Manchester street - live updates

Armed police and forensic officers have descended on a south Manchester this street this afternoon.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police are scouring Brantingham Road in Chorlton on Tuesday afternoon (September 3). The exact nature of the incident is not yet clear.

Pictures show crime scene investigators in white suits carrying out investigations, with armed police also appearing to search a property.

Police are still working at the scene on Brantingham Road.

At around 5pm on Monday 2 September 2024, our officers were called to Brantingham Road in Chorlton, South Manchester after a report was made of suspicious items.

Several imitation firearms were found inside, and following assessment have since been safely destroyed.

A 73-year-old man is currently receiving specialist support in connection with this incident.
