Reports link Forest Green Rovers with Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright after the departure of Robbie Savage to Peterborough United

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright has been linked with a managerial vacancy.

Reports have suggested Wright is a target for National League side Forest Green Rovers.

Forest Green chairman Dale Vince is searching for a new boss after Robbie Savage left to join League 1 strugglers Peterborough United last week.

They've approached the Fleet for permission to speak to Wright, who has been in charge at Stonebridge Road since December 2024.

The 36-year-old was unable to save the club from inevitable relegation from the National League during the 2024/25 season.

But he steered the club to calmer waters in National League South last term, albeit they missed out on the play-offs on the final day of the season.

While results have not always been as good as the Fleet wanted, Wright's man-management skills and leadership through troubled times off the field would have alerted other clubs to his potential.

The Fleet are still under a transfer embargo and had their first six league games postponed by the National League this season as they were suspended due to financial debts.

Wright ended his playing career at Ebbsfleet, where he was part of the title-winning National League South squad in 2022/23.

Talking about his growth as a manager during the summer, Wright told KentOnline: "I’m a completely different man as I’ve learned so, so much.

“I learned a lot in that first few months when it was really tough - I think anyone would have found it tough - but I grew and I adapted.

“You never really expect or understand what gets thrown at you in this role but I’m a completely different man and a completely different manager from what I was this time last year.
