Report outlines ambitious Chelsea plan to snatch Frenkie de Jong from Man Utd grasp
A report has explained how Chelsea are aiming to win the race for Frenkie de Jong, who is a top target for Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag wants De Jong to become one of his first signings at Manchester United. The Dutch pair know each other very well from their successful time at Ajax.
At one point, Manchester United were seemingly on the verge of announcing his capture. Details of the transfer value vary, stating it is between £56million and £64.8m.
But the Red Devils were recently handed a significant setback amid claims Chelsea also want to sign the central midfielder.
The Guardian state Blues officials want to hijack the deal taking De Jong to Old Trafford.
One significant advantage for Thomas Tuchel’s side is the fact they can offer him Champions League football. In contrast, United will be playing in the Europa League next season after finishing sixth in the Premier League last term.

Chelsea are also willing to offer one of their top midfielders in a bid to smooth over negotiations. Either Jorginho or N’Golo Kante could be sent to Barca as a makeweight.
