Manchester United are waiting for a break-through with priority transfer target Frenkie de Jong as his proposed move from cash-strapped Catalan giants Barcalona continues to drag on.

As part of a summer rebuild, United have signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax with other recruits - including De Jong - on the radar for newly-appointed manager Erik ten Hag.
