Remo Stars extend lead in NPFL as Rivers falter in Jos

Remo Stars, who have for the past three seasons been among the top contenders for the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title albeit without success, yesterday showed that they are determined to win the crown this term with a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

In other matches, Abia Warriors defeated Bayelsa United 1-0 in Umuahia, Heartland beat Lobi Stars 1-0, just as Nasarawa United also defeated Katsina United by a lone goal. The upset of the week happened in Enugu, where Niger Tornadoes defeated defending champions, Rangers International by 2-1.

The league continues today with Kwara United hosting Enyimba at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
