Relief as puppy snatched from garden as little girl played is found

A puppy that was snatched from a garden as a little girl played on the swings has been found, police have announced in an update.

Police launched an appeal after a man reportedly walked into the garden, picked up the puppy then ran away. Four month-old Dotty was stolen on Moor Road in Orrell, Wigan, at around 6.50pm on Saturday (April 22).

GMP Wigan West launched an investigation and shared details of what happened along with images of Dotty as they appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

In an update, the force has now announced some good news - little Dotty had been found and thanked those who shared their appeal.

GMP Wigan West wrote: "Following on from yesterday's social media post regarding the theft of a dog in Orrell we are happy to confirm that the dog has now been located. Many thanks for sharing the post."

The post quickly amassed more than 1,000 likes with people relieved at the good news. One person wrote: "Brilliant news, what social media IS good for" as another added: "Fabulous news well done!"
