Red Dead Redemption 2: Rumour hints at next-gen remake

Rockstar Games have not launched a brand new console game since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018.

Launched on PlayStation 4, PC, Stadia and Xbox One, the follow-up to the initial western adventure was a hugely successful release for the developers.

Red Dead Redemption 2 received a Metacritic score of 97 from 99 critical reviews, along with a user score of 8.6 from 18,590 fan ratings.

And a new rumour suggests that the game could now be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Of course, Take-Two, the owners of Rockstar Games, have recently announced that they have eight remasters and/or remakes in development.

Most gaming outlets, of course, made the deduction at the time that Red Dead Redemption, the original, from 2010, would be one such remake.

It isn’t yet clear whether Rockstar are currently prioritising the first or the second game in the series but it seems as though it could be their next release.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially in development, but there is no release date for the game.

Metro credits regular Rockstar leaker Chris Klippel, who have claimed that the next-generation port of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been in development for several months.

He claims that the game was set to be announced some time ago but it isn’t clear exactly why the game hasn’t been announced yet.

Kippel has also failed to mention exactly when the game may be coming out, but Red Dead Online seems to be one of the main focuses for Rockstar right now, along with GTA Online.

As ever, we’ll give you all of the information as and when Red Dead Redemption 2’s next-generation port
