Record Store Day 2023 in Manchester - everything you need to know

This Saturday will see the return of Record Store Day - an annual music event held every April to celebrate the cultural significance of the independently owned record store.

The international event brings together artists and fans in record stores across the world - including 260 across the UK - and sees music lovers snap up limited edition releases from some of the biggest artists and musicians. With vinyl records seeing a huge resurgence of late, outselling CDs for the first time in 35 years last year, this year's event will be seeking to build on the uptick in popularity.

If you've ever ventured out into the Northern Quarter early doors on the day itself, you'll be familiar with the sight of vinyl lovers and long-term collectors queuing down the street, as they patiently wait for Manchester's much-loved record stores to open their doors, so they can bag releases pressed specifically for the occasion.

The day is marked by the release of limited edition releases, in-store events and live concerts in shops up and down the country. Here in Manchester, collectors usually head to the Northern Quarter, but there's several other stores dotted across Greater Manchester where you can pick up new releases and classic albums that haven't been available
