RECAP: Traffic delays on M62 following reports of accident

There were long traffic delays on the M62 Eastbound near Rochdale this morning as emergency services respond to reports of an accident.

Lanes one and two were closed at around 11am this morning (May 17) on the M62 Eastbound at J19 A6046 Middleton Road for Heywood. Both have since reopened with queuing traffic now returning to normal.

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have both been approached for a statement regarding the incident. Traffic monitoring platform INRIX reports that there has been an accident involving a lorry and a car.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have warned of congestion delays in the area as a result. In a tweet, TfGM posted: "2 of 4 lanes are closed on M62 EB between J18 & J19 due to a RTC. Traffic is slow moving past the incident, please allow more time if headed this way. Keep your eyes and focus on the road, safety first!"
