"Really big" - Journalist laments major Everton blow for Lampard ahead of Burnley
Everton midfielder Allan will be a “really big miss” for Frank Lampard’s side when they take on Burnley tonight, says Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.
The 31-year-old is currently suspended, leaving Lampard without a real holding midfielder for the trip to Turf Moor.
The 2021/22 campaign has not been good for Allan or any of his team-mates, with the Toffees caught up in a relegation battle.
The Brazilian particularly had a moment to forget in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United last month, where he was shown a straight red towards the end of the game.
As a result, Allan, who joined Everton from Napoli for £21m back in 2020, missed his side’s following matches against Crystal Palace and West Ham and will now also be unavailable for the six-pointer versus Burnley.
It undoubtedly comes as a blow to Lampard, who really needs to steer 17th-placed Everton to a win tonight.

Brown believes Allan will be a huge miss for Everton because they do not have any other midfielders like him currently in their squad.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star journalist said: “He [Lampard] really doesn’t have that profile of midfielder who just sits in front of the back four and mops things up, keeps it tight, plays a simple pass, doesn’t give it away, but really gets stuck in.
“Allan is probably the closest they’ve got to that, so I think he’s a really big miss.”
They are going to have to, and his absence tonight could be a sign of things to come, with the Brazil international currently being linked with a move away from Goodison Park.
According to Italian outlet TUTTOmercatoWEB, Allan could reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio after the two worked together at Napoli.
