"Real success story": Journalist raves over 6 ft 4 Wolves man who "looks a top player"

Defender Max Kilman has been a ‘real success story’ for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a key player under new manager Bruno Lage this season, starting all 21 of Wolves’ Premier League fixtures to date.

What is the latest news involving Kilman?

Kilman is famed for his unusual route into the upper echelons of football, becoming the first former England futsal international to play in the Premier League after coming on as an injury-time substitute against Fulham on 4 May 2019.

He was playing for Maidenhead United in the National League at the beginning of the 2018/19 season before making the switch to Wolves, making his unique piece of history even more special.

But the towering 6 foot 4 centre-back struggled to really kick on in the subsequent two years, racking up just 33 appearances in all competitions and failing to start over six top-flight fixtures in a row.

However, Kilman is now beginning to fulfil his true potential and has become a crucial cog in the Premier League second-meanest defence.

Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa even admitted he has had to apologise to his teammate after making an initial assessment that Kilman ‘cannot be a player’ following their first training session as ‘he did not run and he did not tackle’.

And it’s not only Sa who is now convinced over the defender’s ability, with The Athletic claiming his form ‘has not gone unnoticed’ by England manager Gareth Southgate.
