Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Fan's video claiming 2010/11 CL tie was a 'robbery'

As two-legged Champions League ties go, Real Madrid and Barcelona’s semi-final meeting in 2010/11 is right up there with the biggest in history.

The two Spanish giants were arguably the two best teams on the planet at the time, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were at the peak of their powers.

Oh and you also had Jose Mourinho versus Pep Guardiola on the touchline, arguably the most famous managerial rivalry of all.

While the football itself in both legs of the tie wasn’t befitting of the quality of player on show, it was still sporting entertainment of the very highest order.

The first meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu really was a heated affair, one in which Pepe – who was deployed as a midfield enforcer by Mourinho – was shown a dubious red card for a foul on Dani Alves.

After that contentious decision, Messi scored twice, one of them an insane solo goal, to virtually put the tie beyond Real Madrid.

In the second leg, Los Blancos did get on the scoresheet through Marcelo, but it came after Pedro Rodriguez’s opener and therefore Barcelona won 3-1 on aggregate to reach the final – where they destroyed Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

Overall, the Blaugrana probably deserved to go through, although as we previously mentioned with regards to Pepe’s red card, they were aided by some refereeing decisions.

One football fan on Twitter has highlighted that fact by creating a video compilation labelling the tie a “robbery”.

After watching, it’s hard not to think that Mourinho and Real Madrid were victims of some poor officiating…
