Real life of Ant McPartlin - addiction struggles, near split from Dec and second marriage

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is returning for one last series this year before the presenting duo take a break to 'spend some time' with their families.

Ant McPartlin married his former personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett in 2021 and is step-dad to her two teenage daughters Daisy and Poppy. It has been reported in recent weeks that the couple are now expecting a baby, although they have not publicly addressed the reports.

Ant, 48, has worked with his presenting partner Declan Donnelly for more than 30 years, with the pair first meeting on the set of CBBC's Byker Grove. The award-winning duo have gone on to present some of the biggest prime-time shows in the UK, including Pop Idol, I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Britain's Got Talent.

But Ant's career has not been without its struggles. The TV star battled with an addition to prescription drugs following a knee injury and has had two stints in rehab. In 2018, he took a career break after crashing his car and getting arrested for drink driving.

Ant and Dec's big break came in 1990 when they were cast as PJ and Duncan in Byker Grove, a children’s TV show set in their hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne, and formed a close bond.

After leaving the show, the duo took up a brief musical career, releasing their first single Tonight I'm Free, which originally featured on Byker Grove, in 1993. They released their debut album Psyche, which included their most famous hit Let's Get Ready to Rhumble - which ended up topping the singles chart two decades later in 2013 after an impromptu
